Breadcrumb Journeys

For the Breadcrumb Journeys posters I wanted to focus on the journeys aspect of the posters. The word “Breadcrumb” is used as a placeholder sort of like the word Cloverfield was used for the anthology film franchise. That singular word sort of connects all the posters or causes a sort of science fiction vibe for it. I wanted to go all out and have it be inspired by a retro 70’s & 80’s vibe to the posters. I got this idea after watching the most recent film The Holdovers which was designed to look like it came out of the 1970’s. Multiple media from music to film was released and touched upon the science fiction genre during this time period. Some classic rock bands like Journey or Queen have had some inspiration on these posters. While editing the posters I even listened to some songs from these artists to get in the spirit and mood for the project. Looking at films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, or Close Encounters of the Third Kind all had some influence on the design of the poster or the typography. I thought it would feel more real if these posters seemed like legitimate film posters from that era. For example if one were to walk down the hallway and see these posters on the wall I would like the reaction for someone to at least be intrigued.
